Sport Fishing Techniques
People have been fishing since prehistoric times, but it wasn’t until around the 17th century that fishing for sport began to rise in popularity. Since then fishing for fun and recreation has become a global trend, and it’s even a billion dollar industry in North America. The great thing about fishing is that even those with no experience can pick up basic fishing skills in a relatively short time, although like every sport, it takes years and years of practice to become a master.
The preferred method of sport fishing is angling, which requires the use of hook, line, and sinker, but there are other fishing methods as well. You can use traps, nets, spears, and even your own hands to catch fish. Competitions are held where fishers can vie against each other to see who can catch the biggest fish, or who can catch the most fish. The art of casting a fishing rod has even become a sport in itself, with the International Casting Sport Federation holding World Championships and keeping track of world records in casting.
